Your Money Blueprint and Past Programming

An extraordinary book

I was reading an extraordinary book the other day. It is called Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, by Harv Eker and it is one of the best books about money and success I have ever read.

I like it so much that I simply cannot help sharing my pleasure with you. And it is not just pleasure, it is extremely useful information that can really help you on your path to success.

It all starts with a simple observation: Your outer world is just a reflection of your inner world. If things are not going well in your outer life, the cause must be found inside, in your inner life.

You might say: “Why should I care?” Well, let me ask you this:

How are things going on in your life?

How are things going on in your life?

For the vast majority of people the answer is not so pleasant. They work hard, study, try all kind of things but in the end they are not satisfied with the results.

Usually, this means they are poor, sometimes in debt, their health is down, their relationships are down and their mind under constant pressure.

Why things aren’t going well in your life? To make the long story short I will focus here only on your financial life so let’s reformulate:

Why things aren’t going well in your financial life?

Harv’s answer is the following: it’s because of your money blueprint.

Each of us has a money and success blueprint deeply embedded in our minds.

This blueprint determines our financial destiny. If the blueprint is wrong, the result is always poverty and failure.

What is a money blueprint?

Your money blueprint

Let’s see the author’s words:

“Your money blueprint is simply your preset program or way of being in relation to money.”

Harv Eker, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

Now, if your outer world is just a reflection of your inner world, how do you create your reality and your wealth? The formula is simple:

“Thoughts lead to feelings. Feelings lead to actions. Actions lead to results.”
Harv Eker

Your financial blueprint is nothing more than a combination of thoughts, feelings and actions related to money.

Now, if these thoughts, feelings and actions are not money and success friendly what do you think will happen? You will be poor and unhappy and you will remain this way for the rest of your life. Unless, of course, you decide to do something about it. What can you do?

The first thing is to know more about your money blueprint. How is it formed?

How is your money blueprint formed?

Your money blueprint consist of information or “programming” you received in the past (especially when you were a child). Let’s get into details a little bit. What are the primary sources of programming?

The primary sources of your financial programming or conditioning

Generally speaking the sources are many: your parents, friends, authority figures, teachers, media, culture, religious leaders and so on.

In a more systematic approach, there are three sources of money conditioning:

  • Verbal programming (what did you hear when you were young?)
  • Modeling (what did you see when you were young?)
  • Specific incidents (what did you experience when you were young?).

Application. Personal analysis of my past financial programming

What follows is just a short analysis of my past financial programming. It helped me very much to understand the sources of all my actions about money and why I was struggling financially.

Past financial programming from my parents

When I asked my father: “Why don’t we have more money?” he used to say:

“I do not steal. I do not cheat. I do not lie. I do not accept bribe. Period.”

For him rich people were just people who steal, cheat, lie or ask for bribes. And he kept repeating all this stuff throughout my childhood.

I wanted to be a good and honest person so there was no way for me to earn more money and become rich. I think now you start to see how things work.

Past financial programming from the culture

Even more darken was the cultural conditioning. In a former communist country, the attitude towards money and wealth is extremely negative because of the Marxist propaganda. Let us enumerate just a few slogans:

  • Rich people are capitalists. Capitalists are greedy people, filthy people.
  • There is a murder behind each fortune. All rich people are criminals.
  • The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
  • Rich people are rich because they steal from the workers.

And so on and so forth.

Past financial programming from religion

The religious frame is a powerful force that can shape your mind in all areas of life, including money. Let’s see some slogans:

  • Money is the eye of the devil.
  • Rich people go to hell.
  • You can’t be rich and spiritual.
  • It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.

And so on and so forth.

Question for you

The fundamental question

www.wpclipart.com

Do you think that a person who constantly maintains this kind of thoughts in his mind can ever make substantial money, be rich and enjoy success? I guess the answer is a big fat NO.

Now, go home, close the door, shut down your smartphone, think, remember and write down all the thoughts about money and success that you have learned from childhood until today.

What kind of financial blueprint do you have? Is this blueprint money friendly, success friendly?

For most people the answer will be NO. What to do when you identified your money blueprint and it is negative and unsupportive? Obviously, you must change it. How?

How can you change your money blueprint

The author gives us four essential keys in order to reprogram your money blueprint:

  • Awareness – you must know about your money blueprint
  • Understanding – where this blueprint originated?
  • Dissasociation – Separate yourself from it and choose to keep it or let it go
  • Reconditioning – the actual process of changing the blueprint.

Final remarks

This is just a little introduction to Harv Eker’s book. The book is packed full of insights into the money and success world. However, I think you started to understand the importance of the information presented here.

When I first read it, I was simply shocked. I found out amazing things about me and how my past shaped my actual mindset and my relation with money and why I struggled financially for so many years.

Changing my money blueprint is now a lot easier when I am aware about it. You can do that, too.

  1. Hi Silviu, great thought provoking post – I think it’s like life, you become what you think. If you think you are poor you may remain poor. I would say mine is no too but I must think harder in quiet. It sounds like a great book – something to put on my bucket list for sure. Thanks for sharing Silviu.

  2. Seems like an interesting book :D

I don’t particularly have any problems with money. I am just a college student, and my parents take care most of the financial stuff, so I don’t have to worry.

But, I would love to make money out of blogging (which is what I am trying to do – make a business using my blog). I have a few ideas, but all of them are still under work.

I do like your points about programming, and I agree.

My principle is to question everything I have been taught (learned or formed).

It doesn’t matter if I strongly believe in it, question it. Because, no matter, in the end, I will gain a better understanding of the issue (and my own beliefs, and in some cases, change my beliefs).

My reading list is full right now, so can’t add any more books, but I will add this, once I finish my current list.

Anyways, thank you for sharing this, Silviu :) Appreciate it!

    • Hi Jacob,

Thank you for the comment. You have a really modern mind. And a kind of Western mindset. Only the Westerners thing this way.
You will read the book, when your current list is finished ? :) Whenever I see this formula, I smile.

The reality is there are many chances you will never read this book. It is your loss, not mine.

      To your success

      Have a wonderful day

  3. Wow Silviu…

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you and thought I’d stop by your blog and see how you’re doing and WOWOW!!!!!!!!!! I’m pretty impressed. You have updated your WordPress design. AMAZING!!!!!!! I’m so happy you have done this. Congratulations!!!! I love your new design. <3

By the way, I have subscribed to your email list and got your PDF ebook. I cannot wait to read it later. Anyway, as far as "Money is the root of all evil" is concerned, I don't call myself religious. But I am spiritual. I believe that God wants the BEST for us and He wants us to be HAPPY always. some of the concept that other people push on others, like "You can't be rich and spiritual" is a hogwash. That's just taking things out of context. I don't think that God never wanted us to be rich. In fact, some of the Patriarchs and Prophets in the bible are rich. Like Abraham, Lot, Joseph…just to name a few.

We should say, the *LOVE* of money is the root of all evil. Money is good. But to be overly obsessed by it like pushing your loved ones away, being conceited and all that…is not what God wants us to be. Judas, for instance, he *LOVE* money more than he love God. He exhanged his personal relationship with Him instead. What is money? Money is money. It's there for us to spend on our bare necessities. But then after all that, it's GONE.

Anyway, I need to get back to my work. Hope you're well. Looks like you are. And so I will just wish you…have a nice weekend.

  4. Hey Silviu

First of all, congrats on the new site. That was a very quick change and I am glad that it went smoothly. It looks really good. Clean, professional! maybe just missing a logo. Perhaps I can help!

The book sounds like a great read to help change your mindset on the way to success.
Many people are limited by their past and how they think, and sometimes it is really key to go back and try to undo what has been set in the past. In our minds, that can be even harder.

I have learnt many such things in my blogging journey, and hope to continue to improve in the next years!

    thanks for sharing

    • Hi Ashley,

Thank you for the comment. This was possible only with your help. I was curious about your opinion. I am glad you like it. I just hope you have made your commission. It isn’t much but it was your work, actually.
As for the ebook, it is a small one and very easy to read. I would like to know your thoughts.

      Logo
Thank you for the offer. For the moment I can’t think of a logo. I must meditate on the idea. first. I want a logo, of course but I still don’t know how it would look like. It will take a while until I am more clear about what it will be. Then, yes. why not?

      Have a wonderful day
